JOIN INDIAN AIR FORCE – BECOME AN AIRMAN

RECRUITMENT RALLY FOR GROUP ‘X’ (TECHNICAL) AND GROUP ‘Y’ TRADES AT GOVERNMENT GIRLS INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE

SRINAGAR (GARHWAL), UTTARAKHAND

FROM 16 OCTOBER 2008 TO 22 OCTOBER 2008

 

1.         Indian Air Force offers opportunities for unmarried male Indian citizens from the designated districts of the State of Uttarakhand to become an airman. The Recruitment Test for Group ‘X’ (Technical) and Group ‘Y’ trades will be held at Government Girls Industrial Training Institute, Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand from 16 October 2008 to 22 October 2008 as per the Selection Programme given below.

2.         SELECTION PROGRAMME: The Recruitment Test will be conducted from 7 AM onwards every day as per the details given below.  Candidates reporting up to 10 AM at the Rally Venue will only be permitted to appear in the Recruitment Test.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

3.         EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION 

(a)       For Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades.  Candidate should have passed Intermediate/ 10+2    with pass marks in Mathematics and Physics with a minimum of 50% marks in overall aggregate.

OR

Should have passed a 3 year Diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical /Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science/ Instrumentation Technology/ Information Technology) with at least 50% marks from a Govt. recognised Polytechnic Institute.

(b)       For Group ‘Y’ Trades.   Candidate should have Passed Intermediate/10+2 with Science, Arts, Commerce subjects or equivalent vocational courses with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. Vocational Courses should be recognised by CBSE/State Education Boards/Councils.

Note : -  Exact aggregate percentage of marks up to first place of decimal for all subjects as mentioned in the Marks Sheet of Intermediate/10+2/equivalent vocational course recognised by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)/State Education Boards/Councils/ Diploma in Engineering only to be counted for calculating the percentage.  For example, 49.9% should NOT be rounded off to 50%.

4.       President, Central Airmen Selection Board reserves the right to shortlist the applications on the basis of available vacancies and number of eligible applicants.

5.       AGE LIMIT. Candidate should be born between 01 January 1988 and 31 March 1992 (both days inclusive).

6.         MEDICAL STANDARDS

(a) Height:  Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cm.

(b) Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm

(c) Weight:  Proportionate to height and age.

(d)  Vision:  Minimum Visual Standard: Unaided 6/36, corrected to at least 6/9 for each eye with spectacles, Dioptectric power not exceeding + 3.5 Dioptres in any axis. Full field of vision and Defective safe colour vision CP-II/III. (Candidate should bring latest prescription and spectacles for corrected vision, if used).

(e) Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable.

(f) Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.

(g)  Dental:  Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points. 

(h)  Health:  Candidate should be free from medical or surgical deformity. He should be free from all communicable diseases and skin ailments.  Candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.

7.     A candidate declared permanently medically unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital or discharged from the Indian Air Force/Indian Army/Indian Navy or dismissed from any Government Organisation for any reason earlier is not eligible to appear in the rally.

8.         DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:  Candidates are to bring the following documents along with them while coming for the examination:-

(a)  Seven copies of recent (taken on or after 15 July 2008) passport-size colour photograph (front portrait, without headgear except for Sikhs).  Photographs should be only on good quality “photo paper”. 

(b) Two unstamped self addressed 24x10 cm white envelopes of good quality.

(c)  All original educational as well as NCC certificates (if applicable) and mark sheets with three attested photostat copies of each.

(d) To be eligible to appear in the rally at Government Girls  Industrial Training Institute Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand, the candidates must have passed the qualifying examination from the recognized Boards from the State of Uttarakhand (from Districts as designated in paragraph 2) or should fulfill the domicile requirements as applicable to the State of Uttarakhand (from Districts as designated in paragraph 2) (Domicile Certificate issued by Tehsildar/SDM/DM or any official authorized by the State Government of Uttarakhand only will be accepted).

(e)  Sons of Army, Navy, DSC, MES, Assam Rifles, ITBP, BSF, GREF, KV Staff, LAO and Territorial Army personnel posted at units located in the specified districts of the State of Uttarakhand as mentioned in Paragraph 2 are also eligible subject to production of requisite certificate from the concerned Head of the Department.

(f) Sons of Serving/Retired/ Discharged/Deceased Air Force Personnel, irrespective of their domicile status may be permitted to appear in the rally subject to submission of Son of Air Force Personnel Certificate as a proof in the following categories:- 

(i)  Father/Mother is presently serving in any Air Force Unit located in the specified districts of the State of Uttarakhand as mentioned in paragraph 2  

(ii)  Ex-IAF personnel/families of deceased personnel who are residing in the specified districts of State of Uttarakhand as mentioned in paragraph 2 (on production of proof of minimum stay of one year).  

(iii) Original and one attested copy of discharge book. 

(g)  Those who are below 18 years of age are to get the consent form (given below) filled and signed by their parent/guardian. Candidates of 18 years of age and above can sign the consent form themselves. Candidates are to bring the “Consent Form” to the Examination Venue and submit the same before the Physical Fitness Test.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

9.         TENURE & TRAININGEnrolment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable up to the age of 57 years.  Initially candidates will be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) for 12 weeks at Airmen Training School, Belgaum (Karnataka).  On successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for trade training of specified durations.  Training is however liable to be terminated at any time if the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit. After successful completion of training, the airmen will be deployed on ground based jobs as per their allotted trades.

10.       PAY & ALLOWANCES:   During training a stipend of Rs. 2,850/-pm will be paid.  On completion of training, starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades will be Rs. 8,100/-pm (approximately) and for Group ‘Y’ trades will be Rs. 7,200/-pm (approximately) for which, in subsequent years, may rise up to Rs. 16,300/-pm (approximately) for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades and Rs. 14,900/-pm  (approximately) for  Group ‘Y’ trades depending upon the rank attained.  In addition, perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical Facilities, Accommodation, Leave Travel Concession (LTC) etc. are also provided as per the existing rules.  Upward revision of Pay & Allowances has been recommended by Sixth Central Pay Commission.

11.       PROMOTION: - Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Warrant Officer (MWO). Opportunities to become a Commissioned Officer also exist for those airmen who qualify the prescribed examinations, later during their service career.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

 

12.       VERIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY:   Original Certificates/Mark Sheets and other required documents will be scrutinized and verified at the examination venue on the rally day before the commencement of the written test.

SEQUENCE OF EXAMINATION

13.       WRITTEN TEST.   Written test will be objective type and question paper will be bilingual (English & Hindi) except English Paper. Duration of written test will be 60 minutes for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades and 45 minutes for Group ‘Y’ trades.  Written test will be conducted in the following subjects:-

(a)  For Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades   : English, Physics & Mathematics as per CBSE syllabus for AISSCE.

(b)   For Group ‘Y’ Trades                  : English as per CBSE syllabus of AISSCE and Reasoning & General Awareness (RGA).

CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY. Results of the written test will be declared on the same day.

14.       PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST (PFT).  All candidates who pass the written test are to undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day.  PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes.  Candidates completing the PFT in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds will be awarded additional marks on a sliding scale. Candidates are advised to bring their sports shoes and shorts.

15.       INTERVIEW.   Candidates who have passed the written test and PFT will be interviewed.  Working knowledge of English is a prerequisite.

16.       MEDICAL EXAMINATIONCandidates who qualify in the interview will be medically examined. Medical Examination will be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards.

17.       PUBLISHING OF AISLThe All India Select List (AISL) will be displayed at No. 2 Airmen Selection Centre, New Delhi on 31 January 2009.   A copy of the Display List will be sent to Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar (Garhwal) (through Airmen Selection Centre) and also will be available at Indian Air Force website www.indianairforce.nic.in.  The inclusion of names of the candidates in the AISL depends upon the performance of the candidates in the Selection Test.

NOTE : - Candidates are advised to get tartar & stains removed from their teeth before appearing for the written test.  Ears should be free of wax.  Candidates should be prepared to stay for the test for four to five days under their own arrangement.  No TA/DA will be admissible.
