MASTER WARRANT OFFICER SUBHASH CHAND
on 25 Jul 1961at Gwalikhera, Distt- Meerut (UP), MWO Subhash Chand did his schooling
at Meerut. He was enrolled in the Indian Air Force on 21 Feb 1979. He is a Meteorological
Assistant tradesman of IAF. He is well versed with the Procedures of the Meteorological
Services for the Aviation, the practices laid down by the World Meteorological
Organization (WMO) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
has had vast professional exposure in Military Aviation, including experience
in varied aspects of Weather Recording, Weather Forecasting and Briefing to
the aircrew for which he has been specially trained. He has also undergone Methods
of Instructions Course.
his service career, he has served at premier lAF bases including a tenure at
United Nations Peace Keeping Mission at Democratic Republic of Congo and at
a Training Establishment as an Instructor for imparting training to Ab-Initio
trainees and of Meteorological Assistants tradesmen.
attaining the rank of Junior Warrant Officer in the year 1997, he was assigned
the task of Duty Meteorological Officer (D Met O). In addition to carrying out
the duties of D Met O, he held the appointment of Warrant Officer in-charge
of Meteorological Sections at Air Force Station Jamnagar and Air Force Station
Jorhat. He has been instrumental in solving various typical Meteorological Situations
at different IAF bases in India and overseas which immensely contributed to
the effective planning and safe execution of Air Operations.
In yet another example of utilizing his vast and varied experience in weather
forecasting, he contributed to the Research and Development (R&D) in weather
Forecasting and conducted Case Studies of Significant Weather Events, vis-a-vis
‘Forecasting of Dust Haze during Winter Season over Saurashtra and Kutch
Region of India’, Forecasting of Very Heavy Rainfall during Monsoon Season
over Jamnagar and Bhuj Airfield’. He also analyzed the Weather Conditions
of KINDU airfield, situated in DR Congo while representing India in UN Peace
has also contributed to the Modernization Plan of the Indian Air Force while
he was posted at the ‘Meteorological Equipment Procurement Section’
of the Directorate of Meteorology, Air Headquarters, before taking up the present
assignment as IAF MWO. Under his leadership, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
have been formulated and put in place for future procurements and Budget handling.
He strongly believes and advocates – “Sincerity
and Hard Work are the two Pillars in Nation Building”. He is married
to Urmila and they have a daughter and a son.
