Indian Air Force is embarking upon a trekking expedition to Tiger Hill in Jul-Aug 2017. Tiger Hill is located in the Drass-Kargil area of Jammu & Kashmir. Battle for Tiger Hill is one of the most valiant battles fought by Defence Forces during the 1999 Kargil Operations.
The Directorate of Adventure, Indian Air Force is planning to conduct a Commemorative Trek to Tiger Hill in the month of Jul-Aug 17. Two groups of approx 30 serving and retired Air Warriors will participate in the trekking expedition. The trek is intended to rekindle the memories of participants who had taken part in the Kargil operations in 1999. Air Warriors and veterans who are medically and physically fit can apply on the specified forms available on IAF website. The selection of participants will be on 'first come first serve' basis. Selected participants will be informed by e-mail / telephone and would be required to report at Srinagar on a specified date.
Apart from promoting adventure activities, the expedition is being planned to pay homage to military personnel who made supreme sacrifice during operations, in keeping with the spirit of IAF motto 'Touch the Sky with Glory'.
