AIR CHIEF VISITS AIR FORCE STATION LEH

Air Chief Marshal F H Major was on a day’s visit to Air Force Station, Leh - the highest operational airbase of the world, today. Air Commodore K S Gill, Air Officer Commanding of the airbase, received the Air Chief on his arrival.
During his visit the Air Chief laid the foundation stone for the Officers’ Mess at the base. He also inspected various units at the base and addressed the station personnel and interacted with the key appointments. He expressed his satisfaction with the operational readiness of the units and stressed upon the continued improvement in the quality of life of the personnel posted at such a high altitude. He further took stock of the different welfare measures being undertaken by the station administration for the welfare of the station personnel.
It may be mentioned that Air Chief Marshal Major commanded the airbase from 20 Sep 99 to 03 Feb 02.
